This Zack Snyder film is a great edition to his directing career not only because it is historic but because it is an amazing story of bravery and just bad ass warriors. This film had so much action in it that i watched it twice and i loved it both times. Truth be told i never actually watched the entire movie when it first came out, i viewed bits and pieces of it but due to all the spoofs never actually took it seriously. When i watched this movie i had mediocre expectations for it and i was amazed that what i had just watched was not at all mediocre. I enjoyed this movie alot both for the action and because it was amazing when it revealed itself to being historical. The cast was good alot of unknown actors except for Gerard Butler. Gerard Butler gave a stunning performance and his legendary line will never be forgotten. The line and i quote is as follows "THIS IS SPARTA"!! That line sets the mood that Gerard Butler's character is one not to be fucked with. The plot to this great film is as follows King Leonidas played by Gerard Butler is assembling an army of 300(Hence thats where the title is conceived from)to go to war with Persia. Sparta is going to war with Persia because of its unlawful king Xerxes played by Rodrigo Santoro who wants to turn Sparta into his own personal slave kingdom. The movie was great and the battle sequences were amazing. I lived the fact that this movie's time setting actually matched with the costumes and characters because i have seen films that take place long ago but have sort of new costumes that couldn't have been made back then. It shows that Zack Snyder being the amazing visionary director that he is can handle anything. My favorite scene in this film was the scene in which King Leonidas kicks Xerxes messenger into "The Pit Of Death". This scene was very memorable because it contains the famous line that will never be forgotten in film history. I loved this movie and highly recommend it for people who love old historical war movies.
