This supernatural thriller film from producer M. Night Shyamalan is truly one that should not be skipped for those who like suspensful and full of twist films. This film i had actually rented because i missed the theatrical experience but was assured by many that it was a good movie. I decided to check it out and had high expectations and i was not dissapointed. This film was great in the sense that there were so many things that happened but they jut didnt make sense untill you venture further on then the pieces begin to fit together. I liked this film alot and once i was done watching my rented copy immediately wanted to rush out and purchase it on blu-ray. The plot follows five strangers stuck in an elevator with a menacing killer among one of them. The movie follows them and also follows what is going on outside with the police and everything to try and get them out. A security guard also mentions an old folktale that he was told as a kid that comes into play. This film had a great twist at the end that left me stunned at who the actual killer was. The film also had certain things that connected the strangers. One of them was the color red, if noticed there is a hint of the color red on every person in the elevator, The business man's red tie, the old womans bag, the star on the security guards patch and the red bag that the strange man has. The film also focused alot on the folktale about the myserious Devil who would terrorize the innocent. The folktale to me was a great way to bring the devil into play with this film. This film saved itself from being just plain old annoying by actually leaving the elevator. In such films as Buried starring Ryan Renolds trapped in a coffin buried in the desert the film began to get annoying because it did not leave the coffin. This film was interesting to me and was greatly put together in the sense of the films twists and turns. My favorite scene in this film is the scene in which The repairman is repelling down from high above and is foiled in his attempt to rescue the people in the elevator because his hook on the rope snapped which in turn made him fall. This scene is coincidental because this is another attempt to save the trapped people and is foiled because of some natural occurence. This film was great and it was interesting to me that the film is part of a series called THE NIGHT CHRONICLES which is a series of supernatural films. The next installment will be named REINCARNATE by director Daniel Stamm. This film was brilliantly executed and should be viewed with high expectations.
