This film was an extravegant piece of work that Clint Eastwood put together and is one of his best films but certainly not in the top five. This film was great and it had all the drama and war sequences that a lint Eastwood movie should have. Clint Eastwood's war movies are great but it is Steven Spielberg who is the master behind war epics. I enjoyed watching this film and i will buy it because it's war sequences were graphic and amazing and the drama mixed in there made it a great film. The plot, Six war veterans who raised the replacement flag at the battle of iwo jima share their stories and tell why they couldn't accept the title hero. The movie was amazing because it was all the reasons why america can sometimes take what they want to hear and exploit it to something bigger than what it is. The movie basically is flashbacks for the war veterans of going on tour exploiting the raising the flag picture so people can buy war bonds and it shows most of the battle to take iwo jima from the japanese. Ioved when it showed the battle for iwo jima because it was great to show an actual event in history and it was graphic like i wanted a war movie to be. I could watch this movie over again because even though its passes the 2 hour mark it is so entertaining and a great ride throughout so that the film doesn't feel like it goes on forever. My favorite scene in this film is the scene in which The amercicans are landing on the beaches of iwo jima and the japanese retaliate and practically massacred us untill we took mount surbachi. This scene was great and it was great to see real war tactics in a film and i also love that Eastwood doesn't hold off on the gore or graphic content of war. I think he does this to show that war is crazy and there is no sense in hiding it. I honestly loved this film the first time i saw it. When i first wanted to watch this film it was because it came reccomended from alot of people and cridics thought it was great and i knew it would be great. My expectations for this film was good but when it was over it was still moving and riveting and just said it was a great film that is definately a must see if your an Eastwood ans everywhere. Please view this great film from director Clint Eastwood.
