This film from director D.J Caruso is definitely one that should be viewed because of his new style of directing in this film.
This film was very well done the special effects were amazing thanks to producer Michael Bay the director of "Transformers". D.J Caruso has done many films such as "Eagle Eye', "Disturbia", and "Taking Lives", all these films were great and i can say the same for his latest film. This film had a nice story to it and one thing people cant say was stupid were the action sequences those were very well done and kept me interested throughout. The film's plot is a simple yet refurbished plot. The plot, John played by Alex Pettyfer is a mutant among eight others with special abilities being attacked or hunted down by other mutants. Basically the movie goes on following number four as he and his protector Henri played by Timothy Olyphant fend off the mutants and try to do what they have always done over the years move and cover their tracks. This plan obviously does not continue to work so the only option is to find the other mutants and join forces to defeat the opposing mutant creatures. I found this to be a good look for D.J Caruso because all he has basically done was suspense or thriller films. Thank god that this one was pure action with a little conversation mixed in. I honestly have to give credit to the teenage actors in there because even though they were acting as teenagers they made it seem like they were aggressive adults. I also enjoyed the fact that when John had to use his powers he wasn't wimpy about it like most movies start out heroes to be. John knew what he was doing and made an effort to keep me and the audience captured with his amazing powers. I honestly loved the action sequence on which John and Number Six were fending off the mutants in a school building. This sequence was so epic because John had a fight with a huge creature that could fly and aggressively destroyed it . I loved how John made the walls collapse in on the creature, it was incredible and even more incredible was Number Six with her bad ass Angelina Jolie attitude. This film was great and it was a great film for a start of a franchise, I highly reccomend this film for people who like films with mutants, superpowers, superheroes. or epic fight sequences. A great job well done for D.J Caruso and can't wait for his next film.

GRADE- B+
