This edition to Martin Scorsese's directing career is near one of his best films. I love scorsese's idea of bringing mafia movies into a more modern time. The plot is basic, Leonardo dicaprio plays William Costegan Jr. a boston's state trooper. Matt Damon also plays a state police officer who has been involved with notorious crime boss Frank Costello since he was a small boy. When Costello recruits Matt Damon's character to work as a state police detective in the F.B.I all the crimes and things that Costello does he can't get cuaght because Matt Damon's character will tip them off about a raid or any tails they might have following them. Meanwhile Dicaprio is in a unit run by Martin Sheen's character Queenen that places him undercover in Costello's crew so they can build a case and nail Costello. I am a big fan of leonardo dicaprio and i thought tthat this was one of his best performances since Catch Me If You Can. Honestly this movie had so many f- bombs i thought my dvd player would blow up from the warfare. I can watch this film over and over again even though its lengthy. With a runningtime of 151 minutes you can get antsy to move around. I sat through this move easily because lengthy movies from Scorsese is nothing new to me. My favorite scene in this movie is the scene in which Dicaprio's chracter is drinking at a bar. He is drinking cranberry juice and another man at the bar tells the bartender that his girlfriend drinks it when she's on her period and then asks Dicaprio if he's on his period. The question is answered with a glass cup being smashed on his head and fighting with anger. This scene assured me that Dicaprio was still badass as usual. T he cast was great with people such as Jack nicholson, Anthony Anderson, Martin Sheen and Mark Whalberg. Martin Scorsese goes over the top and wins as usual. Since his return from The Aviator Scorsese still proves he's got it. I can't wait from another mafia movie from Scorsese but even if it's not mafia i would still look forward to watching it.
