ALIENS
May 15, 2011This film is definitely an example of a sequel to an excellent film that was just as amazing as the first. In all honesty James Cameron wasn't my favorite of all directors but this film along with others such as "Avatar" and "Terminator 2" has changed that forever. I enjoyed this film from the moment it began to the moment it ended. I was so eager to buy this film i watched it twice. I loved this film and can truly say that the alien creatures in this film, the Xenomorph are amazing creatures brilliantly crafted for a survival horror film. The "Alien" franchise had two successful editions to it and then began to slump but among those two was "Alien" and "Aliens". Sigourney Weaver reprises her majestic role of Ellen Ripley fighting the Xenomorph's once again. The plot to this great sequel to the original is as follows. Ellen Ripley is woken up from a 57 year hyper sleep since the first film by a team of explorers. Once aboard a vessel of humans and marines Ripley's so called encounter with the Xenomorph's is denied and said to be false having never to occurred at all. Ripley is still shocked from her last encounter with the alien creatures so sleeping without nightmares is out of the question. A planet with colonist on it has lost contact with the vessel in space and so a team of colonial marines is sent in along with Ellen Ripley to find the colonists and eliminate any threats non human on the planet. The film had amazing special effects and animatronics for a 1986 film. I enjoyed the acting from everyone in the film, The great design and look of the Xenomorph's and the weapons used to survive throughout the film. The plot was also very clever and was strong. I enjoyed the fact that the film had a reason to which the time period between the two films were so long was clever and reasonable not just some lame excuse such as "The character became famous and her sufferings and encounters were published into a book". That kind of excuse could fly in a slasher film but not in this kind of film. My favorite scene in this film is the scene in which Ripley and a local survivor of the Xenomorph attack on the colonists Rebecca must escape the queen of the Xenomorph's at the end of the film. This escape is amazing and explosive and is one of the best battle scenes in the film. I recommend this film for the fans of "Alien" or just alien creature films.
