MEMENTO
June 14, 2011
Here we have another amazing film by director Christopher Nolan and it is truly on of his best behind Inception. Memento is a film that is extravagant in every way and it exerts the uttermost twists that will make you rewind at least twice to understand. It truly is a film that requires alot of attention seeing as how the films sequences are not in order it adds to the confusion and originality of the film. I had good expectations for this film and i was not disspointed at all. Nolan brings his love for Physiological motivation to the table in this film.Memento was very well put together and i find myself wondering why i didn't take the chance to buy it when i could. The film was sheer brilliance and i have to thank Nolan and Guy Pearce for making this film possible. The film has all the bits and pieces to make it a masterpiece it has originality by taking the concept of a metal condition and a home invasion to another level and also by putting together a film out of order to confuse the viewer but at the same time to entertain the viewer. The plot to this Rembrant film is as follows. Guy Pearce plays Leonard Shelby a man in search for the thief who broke into his house who had raped and killed his wife. Lenny is on edge because he also has a mental condition that he recieved from the accident. Lenny has short term memory loss which makes it impossible for him to remember things for more than a few minutes or remember anything new, he cannot produce new memories. lenny is survived by Teddy his friend played by Joe Pontoliano who is trying to help Lenny find the guy who murdered his wife. Also along his search he meets Natalie played by Carrie-Anne Moss a local bartender who also offers to help Lenny. Lenny must write down everything new that he wants to remember in order to have any recollection of anything at all. With Mysteries piling up everytime Lenny awakes the next morning or just after a conversation Lenny must piece together all the pieces of evidence he has and all that tattoos and notes that he made for himself so that he may find the man who killed his wife in cold blood. The film was genius and i have to say i was confused at some points but overall the movie had a major ending that made me think and say "This Is A Christopher Nolan film". I could say that because of the way the film is its classic Nolan you have Confusion or something wrong physically or mentally with the main character and you either have a dead spous or a spontaneous maniac. My favorite scene in this film is the scene in which Lenny is shown trying to help his wife during her assault by shooting a henchmen and then the scene ends up with Lenny being rammed into the bathroom window causing his concussion therefore causing his short term memory loss. This scene was great because it was the basic general knowledge of the film being shown, Lenny's wife being murdered and Lenny getting his illness. I enjoyed this movie alot and recommend it for Christopher Nolan fans out there.
