This new edition and his latest film in 2009, Martin Scorsese adds this riveting suspensful mystery thriller to his notorious collection of "A" movies. I love Martin Scorsese films and this movie is up there in his top five. This is the break that Scorsese needed to express his ideas into something that didn't involve the mob. I loved the cast that was selected for this film including my favorite actor Leonardo Dicaprio. The plot, Leonardo Dicaprio plays U.S marshall Teddy Daniels who arrives with his new partner Chuck played by Mark Ruffalo to investigate a missing persons case on the island. The island is the home for a mental institution, the name of this island is obvious because its the title of the film. Teddy Daniels investigates all personel on the island but when Teddy's own plans interfere with the investogation a string of murder and mystery begins to unravel and the simple missing person's case turns into a search to find what is really happening on Shutter Island. I honestly loved the way this movie was showing us the point of view from inside of Teddy's mind. Everything that happens to Teddy wether it's being attacked or going through a flash back or dream you are basically following him. It is great film and when i first saw this film i didn't appreciate it and understand it as much as when i viewed this on dvd. The grade that i gave this movie rose by a letter because of it's intelligent twists. I loved how the final twist even though predictable was so excellently put together because when the mystery is unraveled and everyone's had a part to play you realize why ceratain things happened the way that they did. My favorite scene in this movie is the scene in which Teddy is in a dream reminiscing with his dead wife and you are notified of why teddy is really on shutter island and the C.G.I in this scene was so good. I loved it when he was holding his wife and she turned into ash and faded away in his arms. It was so cleverly put together i think just that scene alone garunteed the grade i was gonna give it. Martin Scorsese is a director you can always count on to deliver for you and he still is, a brake from all his mafia movies are good and this shows that even while changing genre's he can still deliver. From director Martin Scorsese comes the amazing work Shutter Island starring Leonardo Diaprio and Mark Ruffalo.
