This film is by far one of the best superhero films of this year 2011. It comes in second behind X-men:First Class due to its amazing story and action filled story. My expectations were mediocre due to the mixed reviews Thor had received when it was released. I was proven wrong because when i was done watching this film i felt like a kid again i wanted to be Thor for a day thats how amazing the film was. I strongly urge movie viewers to watch this movie its got great drama mixed with amazing action sequences and to top it all off a hot chick Natalie Portman. Thor was great all in all it surpised me with Chris Hemsworths opening arrogant perfomance as Thor. I had always imagined Thor to be this God who was kind at first and noble following orders but the film shows Thor in its opening to be a hot-headed bad ass who gets the ladies. This set me up for the rest of the film and i was intrigued from there on. The Film had a brilliant cast such as amazing actors like Anthony Hopkins, Idris Elba and Clark Gregg. Thor as you may know is one of the avengers and this film is his background into how he became the god of thunder and became known as The Mighty Thor. The plot to this brilliant movie is as follows. Chris Hemsworth plays Thor an arrogant son of king Odin who wields the power of thunder with his hammer made from a dying star. Thor is accompanied by his brother Loki since a young age and King Odin played by Anthony Hopkins tells them the tale of how their kingdom had become the dominant one for years and that one day it would be one of their responsibilities to become king. Thor is at the ceremony in which he is to be bestowed king when sudden events happen in which it results in Thor disobeying King Odin and going to another realm with his friends to rage war with them. When the realm is no match for all of them King Odin appears before them and saves them before giving Thor the "You Disobeyed Me" speech. Words are said to roughly and Thor is banished to earth without his armor, along with the fact that he can only use the hammer again if he is worthy of it. Natalie Portman plays Jane Foster a scientific researcher who is scouting a storm when Thor crash lands into the desert and is hit by her car. Thor is stranded and with his father King Odin in a coma his brother Loki is taking over as king. A war is brewing and Thor must stop it but without his hammer or friends to help him he must survive on earth untill he can find a way back home. The film is your classic stranded stranger film but nicely done though. I loved the film and the alternate realm idea is remarkable especially with good C.G.I not cheesy things such as The upcoming film Green Lantern. I recommend this film to fans of the comics or fans who love marvel movies and are awaiting the Avengers film releasing in 2012. My favorite scene in this film is the scene in which Thor goes to the alternate realm to rage war and kicks ass with his majestic hammer and lightning powers including a giant beast that has been awoken from its frozen slumber. Please check out this wild thrill ride of a film and be sure to watch after the credits as always for a leading up to the Avengers film there is a cut scene after the credits.
