PLAY MISTY FOR ME
December 9, 2010
This film is one of Eastwood's first additions to his directing career and it is a rather good one that must be viewed even though it is an old picture. I was excited when i read about this movie in the book "Clint: A Rtrospective" because i had never seen my favorite director Cl;int Eastwood in a thriller about a derranged woman so it sounded good. I watched this movie with good expectations and was not dissapointed. The plot is a good starting point for a directing career, Dave played by Cint Eastwood is a radio talksman who meets a lovely innocent woman named Evelyn played by Jessica Walter and they have an intimate relationship which Dave percieves to be a one night fling with no strings attached but to Evelyn it is much more than that. Evelyn begins to stalk Dave and his girlfriend and keeps ruining his life and once Dave tells her that he doesn't love her Evelyn won't stop untill Dave and his girlfriend Tobie are dead. This movie was a great starting point for Eastwood and it was a nice original plot back then and it is not like the movies today which take this type of plot and make it mediocre such as the movie Obsessed starring Beyonce Knowles and Idris Elba. I knew that this movie wouldn't be an "A" but i knew that it would at least make the B-list and it did because i was so into the movie all throughout. My favorite scene in this movie was the scene in which Dave confronts Evelyn about them not knowing each other that well and that she is acting crazy plus he notifies her that he doesn't love her. This scene set the tone of the movie from there on because then after that Evelyn's character is percieved as a Phsycopath that wont stop. I liked the ending to this movie and i liked how it didn't take it over the top like to much of Evelyn's drama in one scene, no this movie didn't go over the top it was just right and it should be viewed and known for being a ghreat thriller movie for the year 1971. Please watch this great film starring Clint Eastwood and Jessica Walter.
